I have joined the retreat and am loving how the tutorials are broken down into each stage. It feels less overwhelming and you can then watch each stage and not have to go back and forth trying to find where you left off. The way the tutorials are laid out is so simple to use. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. I’m learning so much about layering , blending and looking at a reference image. I can’t look at an image now without noticing subtle changes and variation in colour. It’s all really manageable and the best thing in your own time and own speed.

Kirsty Jane has said it well. I also like the way Helen speaks in an ‘adult’ manner. Her tone is calming and her use of language is not condescending, nor juvenile. I look forward to the journey with this membership.

I've only recently joined, but have watched the beginner videos and parts of the hare eye one. I can see (no pun intended) this being a valuable and rich resource going forward.
Susan
I joined the retreat as I wanted to learn 2d techniques and a more realistic type of felting.
I also have several books with instructions and photographs, but following the tutorials has been such a bonus, literally hearing what is going on in your (Helen’s) mind and why you are doing things, even trial and error, this is really helpful as I question my moves along the way all the time and it means we can make mistakes and experience how we can fix them.
The first assignment (eye) has been a huge learning opportunity, as it made me look and watch more closely, and gave such a sense of pride and accomplishment when it was done.
I can pause the tutorial if I need more time to work on an area, or go back to the explanation and listen or watch again.
Following the tutorial - especially with the background music - is very peaceful and enjoyable, I was not in a rush to finish. Husband even commented on how it almost felt like a meditation session.
Even if I am eager to start a larger or complete project, I know I will learn more from doing the starter tasks, so I will do the dog’s nose next - just need a day or afternoon without any distractions to get into it. Life gets in the way too easily sometimes.

I’ve really enjoyed the retreat. I like the instructions on details that I’ve not seen addressed anywhere else. I’m very anxious to do more. Maybe that flamingo😉
Connie
I’m enjoying the retreat very much and have learned a lot. I’m new to felting so it’s a little overwhelming. It was really helpful doing just the eye and nose. It’s easier to concentrate on a small area at first. I’m ready to do the next one!
Suzanne
Thank you, Helen, for sharing your knowledge. I am learning new for me techniques and you are the good teacher! I am ready to learn bigger project as well.
